On Sunday, the big final of the Vienna Poker Festival Warm-Up took place at the Montesino. 88 players had started at 2 pm and it was to be a long day. The numbers dwindled only slowly, the final table was only reached at about 10:30 pm.
There, however, only eight players took a seat because two players were caught out at the same time in the last hand. Walter Matura won one of these pots and had a massive chip lead thereby.
After a hard fight, the field had finally reduced to three players, in addition to Walter Matura, Ladislav Cerveny and day 1 chip leader Enes Sabic were still in the race. After lengthy negotiations, they were able to agree on an ICM deal, € 3,000 were left in the pot and still had to be played for.
Even with three of them, it went back and forth for a long time before the decisive coin flip. Walter Matura brought his chips to the centre with A-T, Enes bet on the pair of 7. The 7s held, Matura had to leave. Sabic and Cerveny then agreed to share the € 3,000 in equal parts, Enes as chip leader was the official tournament winner of the VPF Warm-Up.
