For years, the WPT Warm Up has been among the most popular tournament highlights at the Montesino, and this year, too, the guaranteed € 200,000 prize pool was exceeded with no trouble at all. This time the tournament attracted 695 entries and 113 re-entries, bringing the prize pool up to € 242,400, with first place having a handsome € 47,500 reserved.
During the total of four start days, with five flights at the Montesino and at the CCC Vienna Simmering, the chip lead changed several times. Harald Heigl, chip leader after day 1a, won the lead back on day 2, and went into the final day as a massive chip leader among the last 15 participants.
The Final got off to a high tension start, and after only a few minutes there were two open seats. Paul Rosner, chip leader after the start days, ended up on 10th place, and so he left shortly before the Final Table. At the Final Table, this time there was no stopping the players from Slovakia. The WPTN Warm Up ended with a triple Slovakian victory.
David Urban and Paxian Vojtech had agreed on a deal before the heads-up, and the remaining € 7,700 were played out, with David Urban winning the deciding hand with a pair of eights against the A-T of Paxian Vojtech, and cashing in prize money of €42,200. Igor Panak rounded off the Slovakian triumph in third place.
The tournament was streamed live on the Internet, letting poker fans follow every action-packed minute.
